If you were told to become either a dictionary editor or forester, which would you choose? Those were the results from a career assessment test I took in high school.
I chose neither.
When I got the results, I wondered why I didn’t end up with something more glamorous like a professional athlete or architect. I could only see a closet of khaki pants and dusty books in my future, so I decided to not take it too seriously.
Longer than they have held official positions on my resume, I have been a writer, communicator, and designer. These skills have been refined and challenged over the years in many different industries such as outdoor retail, fitness, landscape architecture, finance, and most recently, marketing.
The truth about me is that I am adaptable, love to learn, and do both quickly. I can work on details or the big picture. From digital communication to Thanksgiving dinner, I easily find holes in strategies and systems, and know how to fix them no matter the type or scope. I can also design the heck out of your most boring documents. (Even they deserve design too).
